The key which we call "Backspace or DEL" in this manual is labeled differently on different keyboards. Look for a key which is a little ways above the ENTER or RET key and which you normally use outside XEmacs to erase the character before the cursor, i.e. the character you typed last. It might be labeled `Backspace' or `<-' or `DEL', or sometimes `Delete'.
If you put in a `^L' to end a new node, be sure that there is a `^_' after it to start the next one, since `^L' cannot start a node. Also, a nicer way to make a node boundary be a page boundary as well is to put a `^L' right after the `^_'.
